LAZY DAY PRODUCTS

We all have those days, you know the ones where you just really cannot be bothered to slap on a full face of makeup when your just going to be staying in or popping to the shops. I'm pretty lazy a lot of the time when it comes to makeup, especially if i'm only heading to college, so i thought i'd share with you my favourite lazy day products which are simple and failsafe.

First up, base. I prefer lighter coverage bases most of the time anyway, but if i want something i can just slap on with my fingers and not worry about blending too much, then Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is the one i reach for. It's an easy to blend formula with fingers or a brush, giving you a light-medium coverage which really brightens the skin, without really needing to be powdered. Score. To finish off my base i always reach for the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach if i'm wanting something speedy and foolproof, as it gives me the coverage i need whilst helping to correct dark circles and redness in one set. It requires hardly any blending either, which is always handy if i'm in a rush and don't have time to check.

For eyes, I always like to have a little definition and a slick of mascara. A cream eyeshadow is always a good choice, as you can pat them on and blend with fingers in a matter of seconds. I'll either reach for something bronze and shimmer such as MAC Eclair Paint Pot, or if i'm wanting something a bit more natural and matte then Groundwork Paint Pot is a firm favourite. Its only a couple of shades darker than my lids, so it subtly contours my eyes, giving them a bit of smoke and also helping to even everything out. Macscara wise, i tend to reach for whatevers open, which at the moment is L'oreal Volume Million Lashes. This is one of the only mascaras i've repurchased as its so quick and easy to apply, giving you just the right amount of length and volume in one coat.

Cheeks and lips are adorned with something or another, usually subtle. For cheeks i've been really enjoying using the Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine. Its a peachy coral colour with a small amount of shimmer which helps to brighten and lift the face. It really perks up my complexion and never looks too much, and the fact it has that little bit of shimmer means that if i'm going for a simple, subtle look, i can skip highlighter all together and still have a healthy glow. My lipstick of choice at the moment for a lazy day face is Topshop Lipstick in Beatnik. Beatnik is a rosy nude colour, which is a little darker than my natural lips. It gives me a good amount of colour without being too much, and the subtle sheen it has helps it to stay comfortable on the lips. It fades evenly which is great when i'm feeling lazy, so this one is kept in my handbag 75% of the time.

So, what are your failsafe, lazy day products?

SHARING THE LOVE

When blogging its easy to get caught up in trying to be better than other bloggers and such, but i think its really important that we all support each other and all help each other grow. The internet is huge and there really is room for all of us, especially as no two blogs can be identical! I thought i'd share with you some of my favourites, i was planning to do the 'blogger love' tag a while back, but i thought some of the questions overlapped a bit for me so heres my modified version with a whole lot of blogger lovin' going on.

First off, i have to pay ode to the first blog i came across. Lily melrose's beauty blog ETCLLYMLRS came up when i was looking to dye my hair ombré. She was one of the first i saw to do it and i'd constantly check back and lust over having hair like hers! I don't think i even knew what beauty blogging was at this point, but she's still one of my favourites to this day with her beauty and fashion blog (LLYMLRS) being read almost daily!

It's easy to tell what my favourite blogs are from my bloglovin' liked posts and by who i search for first when i've not read any posts for a while. My absolute favourite beauty blogs would have to be: viviannadoesmakeup, liana-beauty, hellooctoberlipstickwithsomesunshine, gh0stparties and nouvelle daily. I know these girlies are already pretty established, but its for a reason and doesn't mean they shouldn't receive the love too! Fashion wise, Charlotte fisher is a firm favourite and has slowly converted my wardrobe to a pretty pastel land, and That Pommie Girl is a lovely one too! Major hair/face envy... Charlotte martin makes me want to throw away all the powder pinks for full monochrome all over again and also makes me wish i was blonde. I Dress Myselff is a fashion youtuber favourite, her style is so different but still so wearable and i love it! Also not forgetting Lily melrose's fashion blog LLYMLRS again, and her youtube channel where she shows off some pretty brilliant editing skills. The list goes on and on and i could sit reading blogs for days. Check out my bloglovin subscriptions for more inspo.

Speaking of youtubers, Ive got to mention Anna, Suzie and Amelia again. Cant. Stop. Watching. Lily Pebbles is also a firm favourite of mine, along with Essiebutton and Gabby from VelvetGh0st, who are both gorgeous and hilarious!  When it comes to this lot, as soon as a videos uploaded, i'm there. To be honest, All the girls above that have youtube channels are favourites of mine - i pretty much just love getting to know the people so tend to watch videos/read blogs by people on both platforms.

A final few mentions you should check out if thats not enough - From Roses, JennyPurr, The Little Magpie and Life, Set sail. That should keep you all going for a while! Let me know your favourites, i'm always looking for new reads.

THE CURRENT BASE ROTATION

Foundations are something which i'm not all that fussed about, not as much as lipstick and blush anyway...Although this may mostly be due to the fact that i'm pretty darn happy with the ones i have on the go at the minute, so what better time to share with you the bases which are currently being slapped on my face...

First up, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is the newest of the bunch, and has become my go to for days where i want a light-medium, natural coverage. On my skin its not all that dewy, more satin/skin like, which makes it perfect for days where i don't want my skin to be the main attention, and also helps me to forego powder. Definitely a great one for the summer! My other daily base of choice is my much loved Nars Pure Radiant tinted moisturiser. This has a pretty good coverage, medium i'd say, and leaves a gorgeous healthy glow to the skin. I would say this one is better coverage wise than the Chanel, but you can feel it that little bit more, although they're both pretty undetectable. This ones great for my dull skin days, or days where i'm feeling lazy with the SPF as it has SPF 30 to boot.

Foundation wise, theres only really three i reach for. The first being another lighter base, but this one more buildable. The Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is probably my favourite foundation for the daytime when i want something more 'foundation-like' rather than tinted moisturiser. It starts off as a light-medium coverage, but can be built up to a medium so that you only really need to conceal blemishes. It does a great job at counteracting redness and minimising dark circles, which i LOVE as it means i don't have to pile on the corrector. it lasts a pretty good time on the skin, although i do make sure to powder afterwards to make sure it lasts. For the evenings or occasions where i want my skin to look extra lovely, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation gets brought out. The fact it has no SPF means i rarely wear it in the daytime unless i'm filming or going out somewhere nice, but this is the only thing i wear come evening. Its a medium coverage with a skin like finish, but can be built up to be more full meaning its a great all round foundation. I always tend to pair this with a radiance primer to give me a bit more of a glow, but even on its own sans primer its lasts pretty darn well on the skin! Go try it, Go!

Lastly, the all rounder. I couldn't not mention the Yves Saint Laurent Teint Touché éclat could i? This foundation has been my favourite for a while now, but i couldn't quite decide where to put it in this post. This tends to be my failsafe foundation, for if i want my skin to look perfect, but also not feel heavy and made up. This is a great one for day or night, so i know if i put this on i'll be happy with my makeup whatever crops up. Its a good medium coverage but just seems to even out my skin so well, leaving me with a healthy natural glow. It stays put all day too, which is great!

Theres a few new foundations on my radar at the moment, so we'll see if anything else ends up getting added to the stash...Let me know your favourites in the comments!

THE STYLE POST: BRALET LOVE

At the end of last summer i completely went off crop tops, but this year a new style of crop has been cropping up everywhere (get it...cropping up? ha)

Bralets have slowly started taking over my wardrobe, with a couple of patterned numbers and a couple plain. I'm planning on picking up a couple more from Missguided as they have some available for £9.99 which is a bargain! In the image above, the first one is from Topshop here, the second from Zara and i actually picked it up from depop as it was from last year, and the final two from Missguided here and here. I'm loving them paired with high waisted skirts and trousers, as it makes them less revealing. I can tell i'll be wearing them tons throughout summer. Let me know if you'd like to see any of them styled (i probably will anyway!) and also if you have any favourites, i'd love to have a peek at them (addicted to online shopping...)

The Cleanser Wardrobe.

Some people have wardrobes full of clothes, I have wardrobes full of cleansers. I jest I jest. I do however have a good selection of cleansers I use depending on the weather and how my skin is looking/feeling, and I pretty much feel like I have all situations covered. From balms, to creams, to oils, here are my top cleansers for any skin need.

THE MORNING CLEANSERS // In the morning I tend to opt for something light, gentle and creamy. At the moment I'm loving the REN ever calm cleansing milk as it really is all that in one handy tube. A thick yet light cream which refreshes the skin without irritating or drying it out, leaving me with clean, soft skin ready for the day. Anther creamy number I opt for quite a lot is the Radical perfect cleanser. This is a new one to me, but it's instantly made its way up to the top of the ranks. A creamy gel texture with a zingy scent and moisturising feel, this one is brought out on days when my skins feeling a little more dehydrated. I do seem to be going through it at an alarming rate though, which is not favourable.

THE MAKEUP REMOVER // The only real makeup remover I've been using at the moment is the Superfacialist vitamin C cleansing oil. A thin yet substantial oil which melts away makeup with ease, even removing all traces of mascara upon removal. Bioderma is whipped out on occasion if I'm feeling lazy, but the results of this are far superior.

THE BALM // There's only one balm I've stuck with and repurchased, and that's the Emma Hardie moringa cleansing balm. A cult favourite for a reason, this balm feels so luxurious as it melts into the skin, removing all traces of grime and dirt to leave your skin feeling soft, nourished and fresh. Over time I can really notice a difference in the brightness and evenness of my skin too!

THE ALL ROUNDER // An all round good cleanser is a must for travelling or lazy days, and the Oskia renaissance cleansing gel is just that for me. It's a gel-balm consistency which melts into an oil on contact with skin. It works as a makeup remover dissolving all traces of makeup, a second cleanse to nourish and brighten the skin, or even a morning cleanse to hydrate, freshen and brighten. All in all this is one of my favourite cleansers for when my skin is feeling dull, dry or dehydrated.

So, those are my top cleansers, let me know yours as I'm always intrigued to see if I can find something better!

Ps. I try to stick to uploading my posts at 10am each day bar tuesdays and thursdays, but as you can see that hasn't really worked out this past week! I will be posting an extra post tomorrow and then back to normal 10am posts friday!

OOTD: POWDER BLUE & COW PRINT

TOP: ASOS // TROUSERS: ZARA
I'm so sorry I haven't posted in almost a week, I've just been so busy finishing up my photography coursework and stressing about exams! I've also been sewing non stop as I now sell halter necks and shorts over on my depop page, so check it out here if you haven't already! Today's outfit was all about comfort as I was going to be on the bus for 4 hours travelling to my boyfriends for a long weekend. The worst journey known to man. This top is from Asos and I ordered it in this colour and the black on a bit of a whim as they were the last ones in stock, planning to send one back, but I love them both so much as they're practical yet still look like I've made an effort. I didn't think the powder blue colour would suit me but I love it! I decided to pair it with all monochrome as I love the way the colours look together, so on went these cow print trousers from Zara last year. I was going to sell these but they go with almost everything and are so darn comfy so i just couldn't do it. Heading out the door i threw on my Topshop leather jacket and my Topshop keepsake boots, which are now out of stock, just as I was going to write a blog post on them (ugh) so I won't bore you with how much I love them and wear them with everything now they're gone! I'm hoping to be able to do proper outfit of the days now i'm on study leave, so you wont have to deal with these rubbish iphone ones any longer!

Quite a late one from me today but i wanted to get it up, expect a catch up post tomorrow!

WHATS ON MY FACE #9

I was just off to bed when i remember that i hadn't written up this post yet, so I'm sorry if none of this makes any sense - sleep is needed! Todays face was all about the natural look, with subtly sculpted cheekbones and defined eyes, and the main focus being glowing skin. I use a number of base products, including the Becca shimmering skin perfector in moonstone. I completely forgot about this until a couple of weeks ago, and i'm so glad i rediscovered it as it make your skin look so healthy and glowing. Paired with the Nars base dream team (pure radiant tinted moisturiser and radiant creamy concealer) I have pretty flawless looking, healthy skin - result! I kept all else minimal with a slick of the By Terry baume de rose on the lips and a light dusting of the Tarte blush in exposed on the cheeks, with lashings of highlighter to finish things off.

BASE: Becca shimmering skin perfector in moonstone, Nars pure radiant tinted moisturiser, Nars radiant creamy concealer, Nars light reflecting setting powder

CHEEKS: Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder, Tarte amazonian clay blush in exposed, Estee Lauder cheek gelee

EYES: Mac paint pot in groundwork, Mac eyeshadow in grain, L'oreal volume million lashes, Hourglass brow sculpting pencil, Maybelline brow drama

LIPS: By Terry baume de rose

OOTD: ZARA EYE DRESS

I wanted to do a proper outfit post with this dress, but as its completely sold out on the zara website i thought i'd spare you and share it as a casual iPhone ootd! I bought this dress brand new from a lovely girl on depop for £30 which i don't think is too bad going considering it was £26 anyway. I was worried it would be way too long on me, but its actually a really flattering length and i love how it hangs. I paired it with this new pastel pink jacket from miss selfridge which i picked up a few days ago. I've been wanting a duster coat for a long time, but i really don't think they would work on me considering how petite and short i am, so this has the same effect but only comes down to my knees - removing any chance of looking like a dwarf. I'm thinking to pick up a trench next, it seems i love coats so much more now that its getting warmer...well done brain! I threw on another new purchase, this zara bag and my topshop keepsake boots (which are unfortunately now sold out) for a casual yet put together outfit. This lipstick is the Nars satin lip pencil in Timanfaya, i tried it on in Space Nk, and i think i'm going to go back and buy it on monday! Luuurve. I also got my hair did incase you didn't notice, just a trim and i dyed it a little darker, which i think suits me much better. Anyway, enough babbling, i hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Making long distance relationships work.

As of february, i am now in a long distance relationship. This relationship isn't new, It's one I've been in for over 2 and a half years, but going long distance is not an easy thing. I know a lot of people are in long distance relationships, so i wanted to discuss it and give a little bit of advice.

When in a long distance relationships its easy to dwell on the fact that you can't see your partner as much as you would like, especially if like me they've moved or you've moved and you have to go from seeing them multiple times a week to once or twice a month. The thing to remember is that although you don't get to see them as much, it will make the time you do spend together extra special and enjoyable. Instead of dwelling on the fact that i miss him, i try and just look forward to the next time i get to see him, keeping myself busy in the meantime and planning fun things for us to do. Chatting to each other about fun activities you can do when you see each other, whether its simply having a movie night, going for a walk or going out for dinner can really make the time apart seem a lot less rubbish. Plan a holiday if you've got the money! If you spend your time together practically ignoring each other, on your computers or phones rather than making the most of the time you have, it will make you much less happy and fulfilled from the time you've had together. Saying that though, don't have your hopes set too high, as expecting too much will make you enjoy the simple things like watching a movie together much less exciting.

As i touched on just now, i think forgetting about technology whilst your together is really important. When i see my boyfriend i like to put my phone in my bag and just forget about it, and i make sure he doesn't just sit on his computer. Although i can't help taking food snaps for instagram! Technology can really get in the way, especially as i spend most of my time on instagram and twitter, so apart from the fact that it means you get to spend proper time together, its actually nice to have a break from it for once!

Another thing which is really hard about long distance relationships is the lack of intimacy. Now that doesn't just have to mean in the more...explicit sense of the word, but simply not being able to hold hands, cuddle up, or have a smooch is really quite upsetting. If you've had a bad day, being able to have a cuddle on the sofa can make things a whole lot better, but unfortunately thats not something you can do if your other half is hundreds of miles away! Phonecalls, FaceTime and Skype will be your best friend in these situations, as actually seeing them or hearing them voice is quite comforting in itself. Sending each other photos of a yummy meal you've had, or just ridiculous faces can make the distance seem a lot less, and can really perk up your day.

If you live at home, i also think that getting away together can be a great thing to do. Whether its only for one night, a weekend or a week. Spending some time alone together without having to think about family or friends can really improve the relationship, and means that when you do have to part, you know that you've had a great time just you and them and have memories to look back on. Hey, you may even get sick of them towards the end of it and be happy for some time alone for a while! Whatever it is, making the most of the time you do get to spend together is key in making things work.

Another thing i'd say is that its really important to spend time with friends and get some hobbies when in a long distance relationships. Now, i'm known for being a homebody and favouring a night in watching youtube videos and eating popcorn over going out into the big wide world, but i myself am definitely going to make an effort to do a lot more with my time, as it can be easy to just get caught up in the internet and find yourself bored half the time from lack of things to do! Blogging has really helped to keep me busy and give me something to do when i would otherwise be wishing i was with my boyfriend.

It takes a lot of commitment to be in a long distance relationship, and although it may be hard and it may make you question if you can deal with it, you can. Put in the work and you'll get so much out of it. I've slowly got into a routine where i can completely forget about everything else, college, blogging, work etc whilst i'm with him and just treasure the time, and now its not really that bad at all and i'm pretty used to the situation! Would i rather he lived closer? Of course! But i know its for a reason and everything will work out peachy in the end. I've not been in a long distance relationship for the longest of time, so if anyone else has any advice then please do share :)

NEW IN: SKINCARE

In terms of what i'm passionate about, skincare and makeup are probably joint. Even though i love trying out new products to improve my skin, if i've found something that works i generally stick to it until it runs out, as i hate wasting product, and i also don't want to risk overloading and confusing my skin. I recently finished up some products so i thought i'd use it as an opportunity to try out some new things rather than repurchasing the same old. I'm still on the look out for a good daytime serum which is good for brightening and hydration, so if you know of one, let me know!

THE NEW CLEANSERS // The Ren Evercalm cleansing milk is not technically new, in fact theres about 1/6 of it left, but its new to my stash. This was once my mums but she prefers using balms, so it got passed along to me and its become my morning cleanser when i want something simple and gentle. It cleanses the skin well without leaving it stripped or overly nourished, and it works well as a first cleanse in the evening too (although only with light makeup!). The Radical hydrating cleanser is a cleanser which has been on my wish list for a huge amount of time after seeing Amelia review it, and having finished my Superfacialist creamy cleanser a while ago i thought i'd give it a try. Its a lovely light cream with a citrus scent which i LOVE, although i do find i need to use a fair bit of this to cover my whole face which is unusual for me. Expect a review sometime soon!

THE NEW EYE CREAMS // Having recently thrown away two eye creams after finding they were way out of date and my only one being on its last legs, i knew these purchases were inevitable. The Korres wild rose eye cream will be my eye cream of choice for the day once i've finished up the one i'm currently using, and the fact it has SPF 15 means its perfect for the summer months.  Hopefully it actually works to help keep my dark circles at bay! The other is the Kiehls creamy eye treatment which i probably got about 2 months ago, but i thought i'd include it anyway as i'm not sure its had a mention.  This eye cream is great for deeply hydrating my eyes and getting rid of any pesky dry patches i may have on my lids. Definitely one strictly for the night time but i'd recommend it to anyone with dry eyes.

THE MOISTURISERS // Moisurisers are probably the only things i didn't really need as i do have some in my stash, but they weren't really suited to the weather we have at the moment. The Korres wild rose moisturiser actually came in this set with the eye cream i bought, and i managed to bag them both for £16 with free postage which i'm pretty pleased about as thats cheaper than buying the eye cream alone! I was planning on picking up a Pai moisturiser for the day time, but i'm actually really impressed with this one, it brightens and smooths the skin, leaving it hydrated without being rich making it great for the warmer weather. The Antipodes avocado night cream was bought for me for my birthday by my boyfriend, and its been a great addition to my evening skincare routine. It mainly hydrates the skin, but i've found that it also helps to make my skin look a lot more healthy on the whole, giving me a 'i've just had 10 hours sleep' look which is always a good thing!

Are there any skincare products you've tried out recently you think i'd like?

Spring Pastels

Spring Pastels

Pastels are fast taking over my wardrobe, as you will have see in my style post coming up! There are so many great pieces out and about that i thought i'd share with you some of my favourites. I'm really wanting the lemon two piece from missguided, but the shorts are currently out of stock in my size, so heres hoping they come back in stock sometime soon! Gingham is a print i'm loving at the moment, its a great alternative to tartan for the spring. Although i never wanted to give in to pastel pink, i now love it and can say its one of my favourite colours to wear for the spring! The Miss Selfridge pink coat may have already made its way home with me, but seeing as asos have 25% off i can definitely see a few more of these joining my wardrobe...

IN ROTATION: MAY

For this months in rotation post, i thought i'd do things a little differently. Partly because i've mainly been thinking about fashion and skincare lately rather than makeup, and partly because i expect i'll be using the same amazing makeup bits from the past few months! So this post includes a mix mash of all the beauty related things i'll be keeping close by during may.

First up, lets get the body bits out of the way. I've recently been trying out a bunch of Korres products after finding some for crazy good prices in my local home sense, and this shower gel in citrus is the one i can see myself using all through march. It's an odd smell, not really citrus, theres a slight musk to it but its still really refreshing and zingy meaning its the one i reach for the most of i'm feeling tired. The other item you may be wondering about is the weird pot of deodorant? Well i recently decided to leave the world of normal deodorants behind and try out an organic one. I spent a while looking at reviews as i didn't want to smell awful nor sweat, and the Soap Walla deodorant cream appeared to come out on top in terms as being the best for you and the most effective. The fact its in a pot and you have to rub it in with your fingers takes some getting used to, but the product itself works great and smells so fresh and zingy, so i'll be putting it to the test throughout this month to see if an organic deodorant can actually work!

Skincare wise, i recently bought the Korres wild rose brightening cream (you'll hear more about it in a review soon) and i can see it being a great moisturiser as its getting warmer. Its an almost whipped consistency, so it feels really light but still moisturising enough for my dehydrated skin. Day moisturiser of choice, definitely. I've also been using up the Ren evercalm cleansing milk and its a great morning time cleanser for when i want something a bit lighter and more refreshing. It doesn't strip the skin but also doesn't overload it which is perfect for the warmer weather which seems to be appearing!

Lastly for makeup, bases will most likely be the same as the past few months, except with the Chanel le blanc de chanel underneath as a primer/glow giver/general skin enhancer. I've written a full review of it here, but its basically an incredibly subtle radiance primer which just seems to even out the skin and keep makeup in place all day, love. Peach seems to be taking over my cheeks and lips as of late, and i've rediscovered the No.7 sheer temptation lipstick in coral peach, my perfect peachy lipstick for day to day. Now that its been found, it will be worn allll month long. To add a bit of colour to my chops i can see myself reaching for my new Bobbi Brown pot rouge in calypso coral on days where i want a dewy natural look, and the Laura Mercier second skin cheek colour when i want something a little more muted for the evening or to pair with heavier eye makeup. Both gorgeous, both necessities for anyone.

So, theres a few products i can see myself loving this month, what are you looking forward to using?
