Whats on my face #10 | Nude & Bronze

Haven't done one of these for a while! Today i thought why not steal all of my mums makeup and try it out for size. All that is mine in this look is the bb creme, mascara, brow products, mac paint pot and the highlighter. I'm 100% certain that i need some more Charlotte Tilbury lip products of my own, and a Dior Lash Maximiser is definitely at the top of my wish list. The Chantecaille eyeshadows are beautiful, but i found them to crease on me which was very odd! This palette is almost £100 to put together, so i certainly won't be rushing out to build one anytime soon ha.

I completely fell out of love with the Dior Nude BB Creme during the winter, but now that its summer and the colour matches me a bit better, its love! I still think it works best with a radiance primer on my skin (which i did not use today) but all in all its a lovely light-medium coverage summer base. I'm planning a Dior 'In the Spotlight' post so look out for that to see my thoughts on the products i own! The Dior Rosy Glow Blush is another beauty of a product, i'll definitely be borrowing it more often..it just perks up the complexion and looks really natural. I don't seem to be wearing makeup much lately but i have so many lovely summer products that i need to give a thorough test and share with you, so hopefully it will give me the kick up the butt to be less lazy...

Skincare testing...

You may have seen me post about my recent skincare additions not too long ago, but since then there have been even more! Now that the weathers changing i've been needing to switch things up a bit, that and i can't help but want to try new products 24/7... Not all of these have been given a thorough trial yet, so these are just my initial thoughts. Expect blog post reviews in the near future if they make an impact!

OSKIA MICRO EXFOLIATING BALM // Not a newbie, but one i only cracked out about a month or two ago. This has already become a firm favourite of mine. Its a manual exfoliator which I'm usually not a huge fan of, but this ones different in that its a waxy/balm texture with tiny exfoliating particles so it doesn't feel too abrasive but still buffs away to reveal brighter skin. My face has never felt so soft. It also doesn't strip the skin either which is usually a huge problem for me with manual exfoliators.

PIXI GLOW TONIC // This is probably the product I've used the least, due to the fact i've been exfoliating with the oskia balm and my much loved keihls overnight peel and don't want to over exfoliate. From what i have tried it feels very similar to alpha H liquid gold...Thoughts coming soon!

ELEMENTAL HERBOLOGY FACIAL GLOW // Can you sense a running theme here? In summer theres nothing i want more than bronzed glowing skin, so heres another product to help me achieve that. This mask is strange in that its creamy with gritty bits like a manual scrub would have, but you're not meant to scrub with it...strange. From what i have used of it, it leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and clean in barely any time at all, but unfortunately it does strip my skin slightly which isn't great as my skin is pretty dehydrated. Nothing a hydrating mask can't fix but annoying all the same!

AURELIA REVITALISE & GLOW SERUM // I've been wanting a new do-it-all serum which i can use day or night, which would help to brighten and hydrate the skin in one step. The Aurelia serum is exactly what i've been looking for and from what i've used of it, i already love it. Its a lightweight creamy-gel consistency, which sinks into the skin quickly leaving it feeling plump and soft. If i use this at night i can tell my skin does look fresh and glowing the day after, in a natural, well slept kind of way. This is what i would call good skin in a bottle!

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E SERUM // I picked up this serum on a bit of a whim as i'm coming to the last 1/4 of my current hydrating serum. This one is actually pretty amazing, i like it a lot more than the Ren offering i'm currently using. It hydrates the skin leaving it feeling instantly plump, hydrated and smooth, so that my moisturiser works 10x better. Its lightweight and sinks in quickly too, so i can see this being great for all skin types, even oily skin.

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN C DAILY MOISTURISER // Ive been using this moisturiser for a month or so now, and surprisingly, i love it. I didn't think i'd be such a huge fan of it as i only picked it up to use as an SPF and moisturiser in one on days when i was feeling lazy, but it really hydrates and brightens the skin, leaving it feeling soft and plump all day long. It does take a little while to blend in as its pretty thick, but afterwards my skin feels great and its good to know my skin is protected from the sun too. If you have oily skin i'd steer clear, but any other skin types definitely give it a go!

THE BODY SHOP CAMOMILE CLEANSING OIL // I picked this up at the same time as the moisturiser, and its love for this one too people. I used to think the Super Facialist vitamin C cleansing oil couldn't be beaten, but it has been. This one is much thinner so it melts into the skin, dissolving all makeup instantly. It leaves my skin feeling so clean, fresh and calm whilst also feeling soft and hydrated, which is a huge plus for me and my dehydrated skin. Definitely one to try out if your wanting to try a cleansing oil for a change but don't have a huge budget.

ANTIPODES AMANDA ANTIOXIDANT TONER // A toner is a step which i often see as unnecessary, but since using this I've seen what the fuss is about. This toner really helps to refresh, soothe and balance the skin, giving me an instant dose of hydration before the rest of my skincare. Since using this my skin has been a lot brighter and more clear too, which is a huge bonus! As this has a spray its also great to use during the day to hydrate and freshen up.

A Drugstore Lip Trio That Rocks.

I'm not one to wear more than one lip product at once. Maybe a lipstick and gloss if you're lucky, but never liner too. I recently filmed a prom makeup tutorial (which will be up now) where i went all out using a liner, a lipstick AND a lip gloss to create a perfect nude, full pout. Whats even better is that this amazing combo is made up of 3 super affordable products - want to know more?

The lip liner in question is one which i havn't used for yonks, the Rimmel Lasting Finsh lip pencil in Tiramisu. Its a peachy brown toned nude which is perfect for my skintone, and even more perfect for creating a Kylie jenner-esque look. Its a creamy formula but once set it stays put, meaning its easy to use, and also can be used as an all over lipstick if you fancy.

On top of that i slick on the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Notting Hill Nude. Its notoriously difficult to find a nude from the drugstore which isn't too pale with a brown/peach undertone, but this is that. Its definitely not a brown lipstick but it has a warm tone to it meaning that it would suit both pale and darker skintones. The formula of these is great - Opaque in one swipe with a slightly glossy finish. I am slightly weary of wearing the brighter colours in the range for fear of them smudging all over my face, but this one seems to stay put pretty well, especially when paired with the liner.

Finally, a gloss which i've already reviewed, the Maybelline Coloursensational Shine Gloss in Cashmere Rose. This gloss is perfect on its own, it simply gives you a sheer wash of peachy nude colour with a subtle shimmer which helps the lips to look full. The formula is completely non sticky and keeps the lips feeling nice and nourished. This colour on top of the lipstick makes the lips look a lot more full and helps the colour to be more subtle and subdued.

I'm not sure if this will be a combination i'll be wearing day in, day out but whenever i'm fancying a full on nude lip, this is the combination ill be going for hands down.

The cheek trio of dreams...

The cheek trio of dreams may seem like a bit of an exaggeration to some, but to me, its a spot on description for this team of products. I could never get my cheeks just right. They either looked too pale and sculpted or too bronzed and lacking definition, but these products all together create a perfectly bronzed, sculpted and glowing cheek.

The first product in question is the Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact from last summer. Now this was limited edition, but clarins have released this version this year which is identical just in a different pattern - yay for all of you! This is probably my perfect bronzer. Its warm without being orange, and isn't too dark so that it looks muddy. it gives your skin a warmth and sun-kissed look without ever being too much. I tend to apply this around the outer perimeters of my face and then with whatevers left on the brush, apply all over to give me a subtle amount of colour. You could contour with it too if you fancied, but i prefer a cooler product for that. Which is where the next product comes in...

The Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is my contour product of choice. A grey toned brown it perfectly mimics a shadow and its finely milled formula means it blends like a dream and can be made to look incredibly natural, or built up to be more defined whilst still looking 'real'. I used to think this was too much for the daytime, as it didn't give me the warmth i wanted, but paired with the Clarins bronzer it's all i could ask for!

The final product which really finishes things off is the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight. This is a sample size which i received in a Space NK goodie bag, and i'm so glad i did! I find it very difficult to find a powder highlighter which i love, but this is definitely my new favourite. It gives you such a radiant glow, leaving your cheeks with a sheen which is incredibly noticeable, but still manages to look natural and akin to a 'lit from within' glow. You need hardly any product to get the desired effect which is great too, as usually i pile on the highlight to combat my usually dull skin. A must have for any highlight fan like me!

Pop on a blush and i'm good to go, i can see this lineup staying put for a long time.

Four ways to wear your SPF.

In summer, its extremely important to remember to wear an SPF. Your body can cope with a little lower SPF than your face as the skin is tougher, but on your face i think you should try to use an spf of at least 25 to protect your skin from sun damage. If you exfoliate frequently then its twice as important as it makes your skin more sensitive to the suns rays! It can be tricky figuring out how to fit SPF into your routine, especially if you have minutes to get ready in the morning,  or finding one which suits your skin, so here are 4 products i use to make sure i'm always wearing some form of SPF.

THE MOISTURISER // I'm not always a huge fan of getting my sun protection from my moisturiser as i've heard that it can interfere with the skincare properties, but this one is an exception. The Body Shop Vitamin C daily moisturiser SPF 30 is a good choice if you have dry/dehydrated/normal skin as its a rich moisturiser without feeling heavy, so it gives you all the hydration you need. It leaves an incredible glow on the skin which is perfect for summer, and great for people like me who have dull skin a lot of the time. SPF 30 is a good number for day to day wear, and as its a moisturiser this is a good option for you if you don't like using too many steps in your skincare routine.

THE PRIMER // An SPF primer such as the Laura Mercier foundation primer in Protect is a good option if you plan to wear makeup as it primes the skin, keeping your makeup in place all day, and also gives you the sun protection. This isn't an option i reach for so much now as i have radiance primers i like to use, but if you're someone who tends to use a simple primer without any other benefits then making a change to this one will ensure you're protecting your skin too. The Laura Mercier primers are some of my favourites, and this one is slightly hydrating too meaning your makeup will look fresh all day long.

THE BB CREAM // Although this doesn't technically look like your average bb cream, the Soap & Glory Feel Good Factor is marketed as a translucent bb cream. I have a full review of it here, but in a nutshell it helps to moisturise, prime, smooth and protect the skin with SPF 25 all in one simple step. If i use this i tend to use it as my moisturiser as its rich enough for my skin alone (and I'm lazy), but i don't like to use it as one every day as it doesn't have all the great skincare benefits like my others. I do really think this helps to prime and smooth my skin for makeup, so if thats something your looking for then this product is worth checking out.

THE SPF 50 // Finally is THE spf of the bunch. The Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 is my daily sun protection of choice now that its getting much sunnier. This has the highest sun protection factor of the bunch so its really going to make sure your skin is protected from the harsh rays. If you have sensitive skin or you exfoliate frequently, then i'd say this one is your best bet. It helps to moisturise the skin without being heavy or feeling like an extra layer, meaning it would work for all skin types. It doesn't leave a white cast as long as its blended in properly, so you don't have to worry about having a ghost face!

Hopefully this has given you an idea of where to start when it comes to SPF, and you've found one which will work for you.
