INTERIORS | A DESK UPDATE & TOUR


So since i moved into my new flat (almost 3 months ago now, wow!) i've been playing around with the furniture, and changing my desk was one of the things i knew i wanted to do. My previous desk was the Ikea Malm Dresser, which was a little small but as I originally kept my desk in my bedroom it was the best option. Now as my desk has to reside in the lounge, i've got a little more room to play with! I went for a slightly bigger desk so that i could use it as a makeup station, a filming backdrop and desk to work at. I also went with a wooden version to match the decor of my lounge a little better. I'm so in love with it and so i thought i would share it with you! I've also got a new makeup storage system seeing as this doesn't have a drawer. I wanted a pop of colour and something which made it easy to find everything. This was £50 which is a little steep for some metal drawers but definitely worth it due to how easy it is to organise and find my makeup! A few features of my desk that i love;  the amazing print from Nouvelle Daily, the copper tray from Paperchase, the super cute fairy lights from Urban Outfitters(i cant find the link but they may still be in store) and this marble jewellery box from Oliver Bonas!

LIFE CHAT | PROGRESSION & PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

So before i get on to the topic of this post, i wanted to quickly talk about this outfit. I can't wait until it gets a bit warmer so that i can properly wear this dress for more than 15 minutes, as for now its a little bit too chilly! Its by French Connection, a brand i'm loving at the moment. I have no idea how i've only just discovered them, but i'm well and truly hooked and now own a few pieces. I immediately knew this dress would look great with my Whistles heels, which i haven't even had a chance to wear yet. I really need to go to fancier places! Unfortunately i don't think they're available anymore as i got them about 6 months ago, but i've linked what i can find. My Givenchy Antigona has become my staple daytime bag now, and my All Saints leather jacket is my go-to as it goes with anything, smart or causal. If you want to see a review of the bag swell as what i carry around with me day to day, i have a video going live on my channel at the weekend! Anyway, on to the post...


Since starting Oh So Lovely Intimates, i've felt as though i should really start planning for the future and start thinking of ways i can better myself further. It may seem a little much at only 18, but seeing as i've managed to create a great business and stable income for myself, theres no reason i shouldn't get a head start on other aspects of life also, one to make sure i don't blow my money, and also to motivate me further to succeed. 

I think the thing people think of first is saving. Saving for a mortgage, saving for a car. I've been umming and ahhing about whether i should give myself the burden of saving for a mortgage so young. There are so many things which you have to take into consideration when planning to take out a mortgage, and although its still a few years off, i think i'm just a little scared to actually own a house! I'm definitely going to begin saving my money rather than spending it left right and centre on god knows what, but i think a meeting with a mortgage advisor is in order to truly make up my mind and help me to better understand the ins and outs of everything. I'm currently renting so from an investment perspective the sooner i can buy the better, but i'm still not sure what kind of house i would want or where, and its not something i want to rush in to. Even if i don't end up buying for a while longer, if i begin saving now regardless, at least i'll then know i have some money put by for a rainy day. I do think its important for all young people to understand things such as how to take out a mortgage, apply for a loan, file a tax return etc so that you're prepared for whenever you eventually have to do these things.

Another thing i'm really enjoying lately is spending my money more wisely. Ha, it sounds so boring when you actually say it! I'm a true lover of all things fashion, but over the past 6 months i've come to realise that i enjoy investing in higher quality pieces which may be a little more expensive but can be worn time and time again, rather than buying cheaper trend pieces that i'll get bored of in a matter of months. There really is no need to have so many clothes, especially as i seem to wear only 1/4 of them. In the long run, i think this will help me to be wiser with how i spend my money, and aid my saving. I mean i don't want to be buying a £200 jacket to find out i don't actually like it! I'm hoping i can save approx 1/3 of the money i earn, and with 1/4-1/3 of my money going on rent, bills, food, essentials etc, this leaves me 1/3 or more of my income to spend as i please and i'd very much like to spend it on things which will last, if anything at all. A blogging tip i have is to shoot clothes with the tags still on and change out of them immediately after, so you can either return them or sell them as brand new - cheeky i know but its great for saving money! I try not to do this too often as i want my blog to be a true reflection of what i wear, but if theres a piece i love but don't absolutely need, i'll do this little trick.


Expanding my business is another thing i'm keen to work on. I want to expand my online presence as a brand, and also work on getting my brand stocked in boutiques all over the world. I'm so amazed by what we have managed to achieve in only 18 months, but i know there are still so many things to work on and so many things i still want to do. I'm constantly thinking up new ideas and facets to add to the brand. I'm so excited to see where i'll be in another 18 months time! I may write a post on starting your own business soon if anyone would be interested?

Although i don't expect blogging to become a career for me, i really hope my blog will continue to grow, so i can help and inspire more people, even if its just helping them decide on which boots to buy! I love sharing little snippets of my life, my thoughts and my fashion favourites, so i'm hoping this is something i can continue to do for the foreseeable future, even as my business grows. I'm hoping to i'll still be able to find the time no matter what! You're not getting rid of me just yet.


I think organisation is key when planning for the future. In fact, i think its key when you want to succeed with anything. Keeping an eye on my income, planning how much i should save each month, planning ahead with my collections, photoshoots etc, planning my week so i can be as productive as possible and keeping an organised and tidy work/ living environment will all help me to feel more grounded and likely to do well. I know since getting a planner and multiple notebooks to jot down my ideas in, i've slept a lot better and been able to think a lot clearer, as i now haven't always got a million things to remember in my mind.

Finally, i'm going to start working on a five year plan. In five years time i'll be 23 almost 24, and ideally i'd like to have a bigger home (which will hopefully not be rented, or i want to at least be closer to a mortgage), a car, a dog and have Oh So Lovely Intimates be more than just a small business. Another thing i'd really like to do is try out living in London for a short time period! Although i have these goals, i think its important to make a plan on how i am going to go about achieving them, and to also make some smaller goals along the way so that i don't get disheartened if i haven't achieved any of these things in a few years time. 5 years might not be realistic, so making a plan and having a proper think about everything will make me more likely to succeed and achieve at least some of my goals, rather than becoming overwhelmed.

Even though i've got all of these exciting goals and plans, one thing i'm trying to make sure to do is to enjoy myself. Not to always get bogged down by the scary and boring adult things in life! Sure, i could work 24/7 and possibly achieve my goals a little faster, but i wouldn't happy. It's so important to have balance, and to recognise when you should take time out for yourself, step away from your plan and just have fun. I may have the sudden urge to go travelling and find that my early 20s is the only viable time to do it, which would of course set back my plan, but would be so worth it. I think planning is key for success, but so is taking each day as it comes and living life to its fullest. At the end of the day, i want to be able to look back on my life and be really proud of what i've achieved and all of the memories i've made. You can plan for life as much as you want, but you cannot predict the future and what the world may throw at you.

STYLE DIARY | MUTED TONES

Now that we are finally starting to see (slightly) warmer days, i'm starting to bring out some of my spring wardrobe pieces, which means bringing out the muted blush and pastel tones to add a little colour to my currently dull wardrobe. I spotted these trousers on misguided and immediately fell in love with them, and knew the blush tone would look perfect with grey. They are a little on the thin side so you definitely feel the wind, but give it a few weeks and they'll be just fine. I definitely didn't have enough grey jumpers, especially of the tighter turtle neck variety so i picked up this one, also from missguided, to go with it. It's so simple but its probably one of my favourite recent purchases as i know i'll just wear it all the time! You're probably sick of seeing my Givenchy Bag and leather jacket by now, but i really do wear them at least 50% of the time. Finally on to another pair of trainers I'm in love with, my white Adidas Superstars. They were the trainers to spark my trainer love, i've lost count of how many times i've worn them now. You really need a pair in your life if you haven't got any already!

STYLE DIARY | LE MARAIS PARIS

WEARING:

Hello! I'm back with another outfit. I wore this on Monday when i went up to London. I predominately went for a hair appointment at Taylor Taylor London, where i had my hair transformed by Samantha before having it cut and styled by Marianne. I'm absolutely in love with the results, its better than i imagined! More on that soon.

Anyway, back to the outfit. I wanted something comfortable as i would be either sat down or walking for most of the day, so i decided to go with this Whistles Sweatshirt i picked up a few days prior, and my trusty Missguided Aviator jacket. So comfortable and so warm! This jumper has quickly become a favourite (even though this was the first time i wore it) as its so comfortable, it looks amazing and its the perfect material for spring. Its cosy but not too thick so you won't overheat in it, but you definitely won't be cold either. I often find myself pairing this jacket with black jeans but i've got a little bored of it, so i decided to go for some skinny black trousers. These ones are great as they're high waisted, super stretchy and wonderfully tight fitting in the most flattering way. I have the petite version FYI.

To finish off the outfit i added my New Balances (possibly the comfiest trainers ever and so chic IMO) and my new pride and joy - my Givenchy Antigona bag. After seeing Suzie and Victoria with different versions of this bag, i just knew i had to have it, it was just a case of choosing the perfect colour and size. I decided to go for the medium in grey grained leather, and i'm so glad i did. It is a bit of a bottomless pit inside so i will definitely need to pick up a small pouch to put inside to house my essentials, but its great for me as i like to carry the kitchen sink around with me. I'm going to pop a 'whats in my bag' and review on my youtube soon so keep an eye out!


I shot another two outfits whilst in London so theres plenty of outfit inspo coming your way in the next couple of weeks. Anyway, its midnight and i'm super tired after a hectic few days in the city, so i'm off to bed, bonne nuit!

FITNESS | EASY STEPS TO A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE

I began my fitness journey exactly a year ago, and although i've had breaks here and there i've learnt a lot along the way. Especially when it comes to what works to keep me motivated and what doesn't. I think its all about keeping things simple and fun. Here are some easy steps to follow to help you along the way to a healthy lifestyle.


1) MAKE A PLAN
I think making a plan is key. Whether its a specific daily workout plan, or just a plan regarding which days you are going to the gym. If you don't plan, exercise is going to be something you will find easy to leave out of your to-do list if you have a busy day. I tend to plan to go to the gym 3 times a week in the morning, after tidying the flat and before beginning my work day. This way i get it out of the way before i get really stuck in to work, but i know i've at least ticked off one thing from my to-do list before i exercise so i don't worry that I'm wasting valuable time. If you can, i'd recommend planning out your workouts to some extent so you're not going in blind. Even if its just writing down which class you are doing which day, or which body part you are going to focus on.


2) LOOK FOR INSPIRATION
So this might seem like a weird one, but i think looking for inspiration in the form of recipes & workouts is really important. Eating healthy plays a big part in staying fit, so having an abundance of healthy recipes to hand will make it easier to stay on track. The same goes with workouts. If you've researched exercises for each body part and made a note of them, you won't enter the gym feeling bewildered which can lead to a rubbish workout instead of a great one! I also think looking for body inspiration can be really motivating, but its so important to realise that you won't ever look like them, but you will look like the best possible version of yourself if you put in the work.


3) GET THE GEAR
Now this doesn't mean you have to go and spend hundreds of pounds on a whole new workout wardrobe, but making sure you have the right clothing and accessories will really help. You want trainers which support your feet well and clothing which will mould around your body without being restricting. My favourite brands are Nike, Lululemon and Sweaty Betty but Pink Soda Sport, BooHoo, Missguided & Gymshark do some more affordable options which are also great. I find that new workout clothes are really motivating for me, as i just want an excuse to wear them! Speaking of workout clothes, the majority of this outfit is from Pink Soda Sport. I thought i'd pick up an outfit from the range to try it out and let you know my thoughts. The Jumper has become my go to, as its just so soft and warm which makes it perfect for walking to and from the gym. The vest is great cut which is perfect for showing off the side of your sports bra and the print is subtle but stops it from being another boring vest. Personally, i'm not a huge fan of the leggings, but i think this is mainly due to the fact i'm so small - they're just a little too big! The sports bra is great if you're wanting something a little longer and more like a top, but beware it is a little thin.


4) MAKE A PLAYLIST
Music can really make or break a workout for me, if i forget my headphones i just know my workout will be a little lacklustre. I always make sure to have a good playlist on my phone, or i log in to spotify and find my favourites. Listening to upbeat music really will make you feel more upbeat about your workout!


5) DO MORE
Now you might not have the time to go to the gym 3-4 times a week and thats ok. Just being more active can really improve your health and get you on track. Walking down the beach or walking to work instead of getting the bus will help. If you can, try and do some home workout videos or do a quick weight-free circuit in the park. Ease yourself into exercise instead of diving in head first.


6) SWITCH IT UP
If you find yourself getting bored or if you feel like you're not making progress anymore, switch it up. Your body can plateau or if you're doing the same workout for too long or you might find yourself putting in less effort due to boredom. Linking in to point two, searching online or asking a personal trainer at the gym for inspiration on new workouts will keep things fresh and interesting. If you've never tried pilates or you want to work with a personal trainer - do it, your body will thank you!


7) LOOK AT YOUR FRIDGE
The food you eat is just as important as exercising, so its time to look at your cupboards and that fridge. Empty out the crap and either bin it or give it to a food bank if unopened. I always keep a couple of treats of the healthier variety (eg. dark chocolate, chocolate covered fruit, popcorn etc) but everything else has to go! Its time to start introducing more fruits, vegetables, lean meats (or meat alternatives), grains etc. Its surprising how much fun you can have finding out recipes and experimenting with all of these new foods!


8) SET GOALS
Setting goals will help you to stay on track with your new healthy lifestyle. Whether its to lose 10lbs, to gain an inch on your butt, to squat your body weight or to see more definition in your abs, these goals will give you something to work towards. Its also good to set short term goals such as running an extra 5 minutes or being able to do an extra 5 lunges so you dont get discouraged! Taking progress shots or writing down your workout progress will really help you to stay on track with your new healthy lifestyle.

So there we have it, some easy steps to a healthier lifestyle and some tips for staying on track. I hope this helped at least one of you, i know i'll be looking back on this post when I'm feeling discouraged!

THE PERFECT VALENTINES DAY


Ok so i don't need any excuse to have a good pamper or a relaxed slow morning, but if i did, Valentine's Day would definitely be a good one. Whether you're in a relationship or single, a pamper is a must - whether its to prep yourself for the day or to cheer yourself up about your lack of a date!


LIGHT SOME CANDLES // Pamper sessions must include candles. They create ambience, fill the room with an amazing smell, along with creating a relaxing and soothing environment. I like to light them in the daytime or the evening, the effects are the same. I'm currently loving this CocoLux Candle from the lovely people at Amara Living. I have the Wild Frangipani Scent in the smaller size, it smells amazing and look at that jar! I'll definitely be cleaning it out once its done to use as a storage jar, and then moving on to purchase a larger one...

RUN YOURSELF A BATH // What pamper session is complete without a bath full of bubbles and relaxing oils? A bath is my first port of call on a pamper day/evening. I sprinkle in a little bit of a foaming bath bomb or liquid, and add a few drops of an oil for the perfect relaxation session. If you don't have a bath, then simply have a hot shower and smother yourself in said oils! Of course you'll want to shave, moisturise and generally make yourself soft, smooth and clean so you feel like a whole new woman. Aromatherapy Associates are my favourite brand for oils at the moment, although i'm dying to try Jo Malone.


PUT ON YOUR FAVOURITE PJ'S // So whilst getting ready for the day, I like to put on my favourite pjs or a satin robe (this one is from the Rosie for Autograph range, link here) to make myself feel truly special. Throw on some cosy socks (I suggest The White Company Cashmere Bed Socks) and you'll want to spend all day getting ready...


SOME DOWN TIME // So after your pamper, the last thing you want to do is get your brain going again with social media and other internet activities. I like to put on a film, read a book or write in my journal to stay truly relaxed and de-stressed.


TREATS // No valentines day is complete without some delicious treats! I love chocolate covered strawberries, they are simple and fun to make and are much better for you than eating a whole bar of chocolate. That being said, i've polished off a fair few Lindor's today...


So after all of that, you should be ready for a perfect valentines day. Whether you are spending it with your lover, your friends, or simply by yourself. After a perfect pamper session you'll be so relaxed and de-stressed that it won't matter!
