The top notch nail duo

I'm extremely lazy with painting my nails, i paint them about twice a month and that's probably due to the fact that i'm extremely impatient and always find that i smudge them in 0.5 seconds. I've vowed to start wearing nail polish more, as i have so many gorgeous colour that are just sitting in a bowl screaming my name, so I've dug out these two products to help me on my way to beautifully polished digits.

First things first, you've got to remember the basic things like filing, shaping and generally pruning your nails. I've been complimented many a time by nail technicians on my cuticles (odd, i know...), so i dont bother with all that cuticle pushing jazz, but i do try to keep them in a nice shape and i rub a little oil in the nail beds every now and again to keep them soft and supple. Another thing which helps your hands to look pristine is hand cream, i love soap and glory's 'hand food' for some extra rich moisturisation.

Right, so onto the duo in question. OPI nail envy is a nail strengthener which i use mainly as i base coat - i never really tend to use this alone. I saw from the first couple of times using this an improvement in the strength and quality of my nails, which had been ruined by acrylics. My nails are quite brittle so they can break off a fair bit, but i have to say that its reduced, and my nails are less bendy than before. It also really helps with preventing staining. I wear bright polishes 80% of the time when i do wear a polish, and I've had some nasty looking yellow nails in the past, but that is a mere memory now as nail envy provides the perfect polish base.

Onto my top coat of choice; sally hansen insta-dry anti-chip top coat. This baby can make a polish last for around a week on me, and it also helps them to dry within about 5 minutes of application. It claims to make nails touch dry in 30 seconds, but i'd say its generally more like a minute. This top coat provides a nice amount of gloss, but wont make you look like you have gel nails, which i actually quite like as i don't like my nails to be the main focus. All in all, this is a pretty nifty little top coat, although i am yet to try the likes of the seche vite top coat(which i actually currently have sitting unopened in a drawer), so we'll see how that fairs in comparison once i crack that open!

What are your favourite nail products to make nail painting run like a dream?

MAC impassioned lipstick

I've recently become obsessed with coral lipsticks. I think they are perfect for spring, whether worn in the day or night. Mac impassioned is an almost neon pink with a slight coral tone to it. It's an amplified finish which is definitely my favourite mac finish as they're extremely vibrant and long lasting, and although they're mostly matte, they still have a slight sheen to them and they are pretty moisturising too. This colour definitely packs a punch, so it's not one to go for if you want a subtle, easily wearable pinky coral. If you're like me and love wearing the brightest lipstick possible but cant seem to find one with enough pigment or often find pinks too blue toned, then check out this shade.

The colour comes out pretty much as it looks in the tube, and is completely opaque in a couple of swipes. I think it compliments warm skintones really well, but it could also be very striking on very pale or deep skintones. As for the lasting power, i would say that it lasts very well. I've been wearing this lipstick for around 4 hours, and in that time ive had a cup of tea, numerous cups of water and also scoffed down a chinese takeaway, and i've still got a stain on my lips. I really like the fact that it's evenly faded and not left a bright ring around my lips, which can often be the worry when wearing a bright lipstick out. If you weren't to eat and drink as much as i did, i'm sure this lipstick could last a good few hours without needing a touch up.

I can see this lipstick being a staple in my collection for the spring and summer, as it can really liven up an otherwise plain and simple makeup look. I love this paired with a smokey eye and heavy contouring, or even just a slick of mascara and some bronzer. It's extremely versatile. My quest to own every possible lipstick shade in existance continues, but for now, i am very happy with this purchase!

Whats you're favourite lipstick? Would you be brave enough to wear this?

Recent buys #1 | Beauty

So, we're already at my first haul...Here's some bits and bobs I've purchased over the past two weeks! I thought it would be much easier to update you all on my purchases through blog posts, rather than having to upload videos all the time as these are much easier to look through. I'm really excited to share this haul with you, as i dont share all of my puchases, but i think I've bought some really great things this time round!

Starting with makeup, I took a trip into beales, and thats one place, along with space NK, that i never manage to leave empty handed. I initially went in to buy the clarins gentle exfoliator brightening toner, but when i saw that they still had their offer on to receive 4 free samples with 2 purchases, i jumped at the chance and managed to end up purchasing the toner along with two things from their splendours summer collection: the eyeshadow palette, and the beautiful bronzing powder. I have to say, these two products do not disappoint. The bronzing powder is the perfect shade of bronze, with lighter and darker areas so you can control how dark you want your bronzed look to be. The bronzer is matte, with only the centre being a shimmery golden shade, which you can swirl in to give the bronzer a lovely golden glow. The eyeshadow palette has 4 shades, along with a strip of black eyeliner, so its a great little palette to create a whole look, which makes it perfect for travelling or touch ups on the go. i'll definitely be using these in tutorials in the future, and i may also write some reviews, but they are limited edition so go get them before they're gone!

I then went over to mac, and lets just say thats never a good thing for my bank account...I always end up coming out with numerous lipsticks, and thats exactly what happened today. I ended up picking up the shade amorous, along with two shades i'd been lusting over for months: chilli and impassioned. Amarous being a wearable plum, chilli a gorgeous, matte, deep orange red, and impassioned a bright coral pink, i thought these would be great additions to my collection. I also got persuaded into buying a limited edition lipstick from the temperature rising collection, in the shade feel my pulse. It's very similar to MAC violetta which i already own, but much more wearable as its less shimmery and muted, being a cremesheen rather than an amplified. i may take this one back, but it was the last one so i had to snatch it up! My final two things from mac were the prep + prime highlighter in lightboost, and the 239 eyeshadow brush. I'd been after lightboost for quite some time as i love a highlighted look, and since i was after a new eyeshadow brush i thought the 239 would be perfect as it packs on the lid colour, and is also great for lining the eyes with shadow.

Finally, i have a topshop cheek duo in the shade 'desert sun', which is a blush/highlight/bronzer in one. I love multipurpose products, as their great for days when you want to look like you've made an effort, but you really don't have the time to. The blush has a marbled effect, with one side being the blush which is a lovely coral pink, and the other side being the bronzer which is a shimmery golden brown which is not too dark. To be honest i just added this to cart so i didn't have to pay for shipping, but i'm glad i did!

So thats it for my first beauty haul, a fashion haul will be up tomorrow so look out for that!
I purchased my clarins and MAC products from beales, and topshop makeup is available online and in selected stores.
